General Use Policies
  • An appointment is required to view the Darryl Hunt and Hunt Trials Collection. Request an appointment via our contact form.
  • To ensure the protection of the materials, food and beverages should not be brought to the appointment.
  • Use of pencil is required when taking notes.
  • All Special Collections & Archives materials are non-circulating and must be used exclusively at the research appointment.
  • Be careful and respectful of the materials you are handling. Turn pages gently, place notebooks and note paper on the table surface, not on the materials, and ask for assistance when in doubt. Please do not use Post-it notes, insert bookmarks or other papers, or mark materials in any way.
  • Only one box or folder may be consulted at a time.
  • Researchers are asked to handle papers carefully, maintaining their established order in the folders, and notifying Leslie Wakeford, Archivist, if they are out of order or damaged in any way.
  • Material may be reproduced in accordance with the policies and procedures of the Law Library. Scanning, photocopying, or other reproduction of materials will be done by Library staff and is limited to 25 pages or fewer. Scan Request forms are available.
  • Researchers may request permission from the professional staff to use digital cameras to take images. Scanners are not permitted due to copyright issues and fragility of Special Collections materials.
  • Researchers must fill out and sign a permission form to quote from, take photos of, or use images from the Law Library’s Special Collections & Archives collections.
  • The use of certain manuscripts or other materials may be restricted by statute, by office of origin, or by the donors. The researcher must assume full responsibility for fulfilling the terms connected with any restricted material. For the protection of its collections the Law Library also reserves the right to restrict the use of materials which are not processed or in the process of being arranged, materials of exceptional value, and fragile materials.
Reproductions

Libraries and archives are authorized to provide photocopies or other reproductions of copyrighted material only under certain conditions, one of which is that the reproduction is to be used for private study, scholarship, or research only. The Law Library reserves the right to refuse any duplication request that would involve a possible copyright infringement.

Contact us with your request via this form to request a research appt. or reproduction.

All photocopying, scanning, or other reproduction is done by Law Library or ZSR Digitization Lab staff. All reproductions require the requestor to fill out a Request to Cite, Quote, or Publish form. Please contact us for the form.

Scans will be provided at no cost to patrons, but donations of any amount are always welcome; our mailing address follows below. To accommodate all patron scan requests, we do limit requests to 25 pages or fewer.

Mailing address: WFU Law Library, Collection Services, P.O. Box 7206, Winston-Salem, NC 27109.

Reproduction requests are subject to the approval of the Leslie Wakeford, Archivist. Requests for duplication of materials are evaluated on a case by case basis. Requests may be denied if the material is restricted, if duplication would cause physical damage to the item, if the request would involve copyright infringement, or if the staff has any reason to believe that the patron will not comply with our use and citation requirements. Requests will be vetted in accordance with legal guidelines concerning copyright and privacy.
