Members of the bench and bar are encouraged to use the resources of the library, and are invited to use our facilities. The library is generally open Monday through Friday during the day. Please call the Library to confirm hours prior to visiting. All use of library materials is on-site. Upon visiting the library, any person may be asked to show proper identification in order to use library materials.
To inquire about a borrowing a particular title please contact the Service Desk. You may also request documents by known citation to be delivered to you, if available online, by contacting the Service Desk. The library adheres to U.S. copyright law, therefore we reserve the right to deny any request which it deems in violation. A small fee may be applied to each request.
If you choose to visit the library, you may be asked to show proper identification in order to use selected library materials. As a special service to attorneys, reference librarians are available to help you locate relevant materials while on-site. Additionally, public access computers are available to use, but attorneys must use their own Lexis or Westlaw account passwords to access these online services. Some library online subscription, such as HeinOnline, are available for use by attorneys.
The librarians have also created multiple ResearchGuides that you may find helpful in your research that range in topics from North Carolina Legal Research to Art Law to Intellectual Property Resources. Additionally, the library has over one hundred and eighty Advanced Legal Research pathfinders that are created by upper-level law students (updated annually) that are freely available to alumni and practicing attorneys.
